How to Measure Your Air Fryer to Buy Perfect-Fit Accessories

When sourcing air fryer accessories for resale or personal use, the most common headache is poor fit. Many buyers order silicone mats, cooking racks, or divider inserts only to find they cannot fit inside the basket, block airflow, or touch the heating element. Correct measurement is the key to solving this problem.

Below is our easy, repeatable measuring guide you can share with your end customers.

Step 1: Identify what to measure

Do NOT only rely on the advertised air fryer quart/liter capacity. The stated volume is a rough marketing number and often does not reflect the usable inner space. Always measure the interior of the cooking basket.

Step 2: Measure the inner width & length

1. Take out the basket from your air fryer.
2. Measure the **inner edge to inner edge** at the top opening: width and length (for rectangular / oval baskets). For round baskets, measure the inner diameter.

Tip: Measure the TOP opening, not the bottom, because most baskets taper and are wider at the top.

Step 3: Measure inner height

Measure the vertical height from the basket base up to the bottom of the heating coil.

Critical rule: Accessories must never touch the heating element. Leave a small gap to maintain hot air circulation.

Step 4: Check special structure

- Basket with raised ridges: The usable space is between the ridges, not the full basket width.
- Non-removable divider slots: Need to confirm if accessories can fit with original dividers.
- Dual-basket air fryers: Measure each cavity separately, left and right sides may vary.

Step 5: How to pick accessories based on your measurements

- Silicone air fryer liners: Should be 0.5–1 cm smaller than basket inner top size. Too big causes curling and blocks air flow.
- Stainless steel racks: Must sit flat inside, no tilting. Height must not touch heating tube.
- Divider inserts: Match the inner dimension of the basket exactly.

Common mistakes to avoid

1. Using external outer casing size instead of inner basket size.
2. Trusting only quart/litre rating. Same capacity air fryers can have different basket shapes.
3. Buying accessories that reach or touch the heating element (fire risk & product failure).
4. Ignoring tapered basket design: A size that fits the bottom may be too big for the top.

Why this matters for retailers & brand buyers
